Help review Torah Ohr and Likkutei Torah before they go to print
The first full translation of Torah Ohr and Likkutei Torah, with a biur b’derech efshar, is being prepared in print for 19 Kislev. Before it goes to print, every maamar should be read by people who learn well. If you can learn a maamar of Chassidus in the original and are comfortable saying that it reads right, please join us.
English: by Friday, November 6, so the books can be ordered in time. Other languages: no rush; readers who know the language and English well.
How it works
- ApplyTell us your name, how to reach you, and where you learned. Every editor is approved by the editor-in-chief.
- Take a maamarChoose one that still needs readers. Each maamar is read by at least two editors, each on their own.
- Read and markRead it against the Hebrew on the maamar’s page. Highlight any words and save a correction, a note or a question. Your notes are kept in your account as you go.
- SubmitWhen you have finished the maamar, press Submit and say how it reads. Every correction is checked against the Hebrew and the sources, and the editor-in-chief decides each one.
What to look for
- The translation says what the Hebrew says: nothing added, nothing left out, nothing turned around.
- The explanation is true to the maamar and to Chassidus, and does not say more than the maamar does.
- The verses and sayings of Chazal are the right ones, and their sources are exact.
- The names and terms are as the glossary has them (Chabad pronunciation; “G‑d”; the levels and the sefiros).
- The summary, the outline and the children’s section match the maamar.
- Anything unclear, or that would not read well in a printed sefer.
Say only what you are sure of. If you are not sure, write it as a question.
