The maamarim 2
- (Pertaining to the verse “I will go down now”) Eliyahu opened: “You are One, but not in number…” The ten Sefiros are called “tikkunim,” adornments, because, like the soul's intellect and emotions, they are garments of the Infinite Light that are nonetheless one with it; yet the Infinite remains “One, but not in number,” because Atzilus emerges through the tzimtzum, a gap far deeper than the parsa that separates the lower worlds.
- ארדה נא וגו׳ "I will go down now [and see]" G‑d knows everything in the manner of "revealed and known," without His knowledge entering into what is known. The "roaming eyes" of G‑d are the vessels of the Sefiros and the angels, through which judgment rises from below; and "I will go down and see" is the descent of Chesed, which looks at the same facts and seeks merit.
